£5 entry. Bar open. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Has Chard Got Talent? Terms and conditions

As this is a family event, the following rules/expectations apply:

  1. Strictly no nudity, striptease, any racist, homophobic or in any way derogatory or offensive material.
  2. No animal acts or any act that is deemed too dangerous or a safety risk, such as fire breathing, sword swallowing or anything in a similar vein.
  3. Each act will have a three-minute slot to perform for the judges.
  4. There is no minimum or maximum age restriction, but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
  5. Please be aware that registration will not automatically mean you are taking part. Our team will need to go through the applicants and create a running order. This all depends on the number of acts registering.
  6. Once the application process has closed, a member of our team will contact you to let you know if you have been chosen to take part in the daytime auditions.
  7. If you have any special requirements you need, please list them on the form, but bear in mind we have a small team and we will need to keep the day running, although we do have lighting and sound operatives within the Guildhall events team.
  8. Please understand that the judges' decision is final.

What we collect

When you register we collect first name, last name, age, phone number, email address, performance category, type of act, optional special requirements, and your consent. If the act is under 16 we also record that an adult will accompany them.

Why we use it

We use this information to review applications, create a running order, contact you about daytime auditions, and run a safe family event. The lawful basis is consent. You can withdraw consent by emailing us, but we may still need to keep limited records where the law requires it.

Who we share it with

Authorised event organisers working with Chard Town Council may access applications to plan the show. We do not sell your data. Hosting is on Netlify. Applications are stored in a Neon PostgreSQL database in the UK (London, eu-west-2).

How long we keep it

We keep applications for 12 months after the event, or 24 months from the date you register, whichever is sooner, then delete them unless we must keep them longer for a legal claim or safety issue.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, or object to processing. Email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
